Today one of the most prestigious esports tournaments — The International 2025 — has started.

This year it takes place in Hamburg. Sixteen of the world’s strongest teams will compete for a prize pool that has already exceeded $2,394,000.

Tournament format

First, the teams will play the group stage in the Swiss system. All matches are best of 3. After five rounds, the eight best teams will advance to the next stage, while the others will leave the tournament.

The playoffs will take place from September 11 to 14 at the Barclays Arena. The system is Double Elimination: upper and lower brackets, all matches in best of 3 format, except for the final, which will be played in best of 5. The winner will lift the coveted Aegis of the Immortal.

Who to watch?

NAVI have returned to The International after several years. Their roster combines young talents and experienced W_Zayac, who has already played at this tournament multiple times. The youngest player, Niku, is only 16 years old — he is the second youngest participant of TI.

Team Liquid are among the favorites. They have already won The International twice, and their midlaner Nisha is considered the most famous Polish Dota 2 player.

Team Falcons have faced difficulties at major events throughout the year. However, their unique style and unconventional strategies can turn any game around. The question is whether they will manage to do it at the season’s main event.

There are no weak participants at this tournament — every team has earned its place through season results or by winning regional qualifiers.

The Ukrainian-language broadcast is provided by Maincast, and English-language streams are also available. Moreover, during The International 2025 anyone can launch their own stream — just go to the dedicated section on Twitch and choose a commentator you like.

On the first day, each team will play two matches. Games have already started and are taking place one after another.
