The Secret of the Name: Where Do Ninja Sushi’s Roll Names Come From? Part 2

news

Recently, we shared the story behind the unusual and memorable names of the rolls on the Ninja Sushi menu — each one inspired by pop culture, mythology, or Japanese traditions. You warmly welcomed the first part, which means we’re on the right track!

In the second installment of “The Name Mystery”, meet Zoro, Nobara, Itachi, Sanji, Suguro, Hikari, Yamamoto, and Himawari.

Zoro

This roll is named after Roronoa Zoro — the legendary swordsman from One Piece. Known for fighting with three katanas at once, his iron will, and unshakable loyalty to his crew. Zoro also has a legendary sense of direction… which usually leads him astray, even on a straight road.

We tried to capture that same boldness and contrast in the “Zoro” roll: shrimp, salmon, avocado, Japanese tamago omelet, and a spicy-sweet chili sauce.

Nobara

Nobara Kugisaki is a charismatic heroine from Jujutsu Kaisen, capable of restoring order with just a hammer — as good as any team of exorcists.

Smart, a little unhinged, and never afraid to be herself — no wonder she won over fans so quickly.

Our “Nobara” roll is just as unforgettable: salmon, tempura shrimp, snow crab, cucumber, avocado, and sweet chili sauce..

Itachi

Sasuke’s older brother and one of the most iconic characters from Naruto. His story is one of tragedy, sacrifice, and wisdom. A true genius who walked his own path — no matter how painful.

We aimed to reflect that spirit in this roll: shrimp, snow crab, avocado, truffle, and Japanese mayo.

Sanji

The head chef in One Piece, Sanji is a master of kicking enemies and cooking with heart. Charming, sharp-witted, and always dressed to impress — he’s a symbol of taste and style.

Our “Sanji” roll blends bright and balanced flavors: salmon, mango, pickled cucumber, plus sweet chili and mango sauces.

Suguro

Named after Suguru Geto — one of the most complex characters in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Once the best friend of Satoru Gojo, a former hero who turned antagonist after deciding only sorcerers were worth protecting. His character combines charisma and overwhelming magical power.

We captured this duality in taste: pickled salmon, cucumber, iceberg lettuce, sweet chili sauce, and squid ink, giving the rice a striking black color.

Yamamoto

In Japan, it’s a common surname, but anime fans know it best as Genryūsai Yamamoto from Bleach — the oldest and most powerful captain of the Soul Society. His strength, wisdom, and control over fire are legendary.

The “Yamamoto” roll brings fiery looks and bold flavor: salmon, shrimp, crab mix, caviar, and avocado.

Hikari

The word “hikari” means “light” in Japanese. It’s often found in anime and other classical Japanese works. We loved its sound — soft and full of hope.

Just like our “Hikari” roll: a vibrant combination of tuna, shrimp, crab mix, and a touch of mustard to add a hint of spice.

Himawari

This name means “sunflower” in Japanese. Gentle, warm, and sunny. In Naruto, Himawari is Boruto’s younger sister — a kind-hearted yet surprisingly strong girl.

The “Himawari” roll is one of the most delicate on the menu: cream cheese, salmon, shrimp, parmesan, cheddar, and Japanese tamago omelet.

Perfect for those who enjoy a soft, balanced flavor.
