The Name Mystery: Where Do Ninja Sushi Roll Names Come From?

Ninja Sushi's menu features dozens of rolls with unique and memorable names.
Today, we've decided to lift the veil and share the stories behind some of them. Some names you'll recognize instantly, without any hints, while others might reveal a completely new side — even for connoisseurs of pop culture and Japan.
In this feature, we introduce you to Kratos, Dante, Kojima, Sherlock, Hikari, and Kobe. And don’t hesitate to leave a comment on Instagram — if you enjoy this format, we’ll definitely prepare a follow-up!
We named this roll after a character from ancient Greek mythology — the son of Pallas and Styx, an ally of Zeus in the battle against the Titans. However, Kratos is more widely known as the protagonist of the popular God of War game series.
He literally symbolizes strength and courage — evident in his appearance and the near-total absence of armor. In our roll, we aimed to convey similar traits: black rice and a tempting topping of snow crab and roe. Ninja Sushi also offers a version with cheddar cheese.
Anyone interested in video games knows the name Hideo Kojima — the game designer behind iconic series like Metal Gear and Death Stranding. A recognized genius who has maintained high standards for many years and continually brings fresh ideas to gameplay.
By the way, the long-awaited sequel to Death Stranding is set to release in June, as we mentioned in a previous article. It's the perfect time to immerse yourself in this universe and enjoy a few engaging hours over the weekend. The roll on Ninja Sushi's menu is a vibrant combination of shrimp, crab mix, salmon, Japanese omelet Tamago, and mango sauce. There's also a version with cheddar.
One of the most recognizable characters in English literature, created by Arthur Conan Doyle. A private detective who elegantly unravels the most complex cases. Sherlock has inspired numerous adaptations and monuments worldwide. We particularly recommend the eponymous series that aired from 2010 to 2017. And our roll with salmon, avocado, and mango perfectly complements the viewing experience.
Also known as Tony Redgrave — a charismatic hero from the Devil May Cry game, who dedicated his life to battling demons and other supernatural beings. In combat, he wields a sword and dual pistols.
If you're not yet familiar with this remarkable universe, we recommend starting with the recent anime that swiftly captured the hearts of thousands of Netflix viewers. The themed roll reflects the character's nature: a stylish appearance and spicy notes of sweet chili sauce.
A Japanese word meaning "light." It's commonly found — as a city name and as the name of many anime characters. We liked the sound of the word, so we decided to immortalize it in our menu. The roll from Ninja Sushi turned out to be equally bright: tuna, shrimp, crab mix, and a touch of mustard.
One of Japan's largest port cities, located in Hyogo Prefecture. It's home to the headquarters of hundreds of global corporations, and in December, it hosts the famous Festival of Lights, attracting over 4 million people. The city's pride is the Akashi Kaikyō Bridge, the largest suspension bridge in the world. Our "Kobe" roll is a light-orange creation with salmon, shrimp, roe, mango, and cream cheese.
