Johnny Depp’s Best Roles

news

Today, Johnny Depp is celebrating his sixty-third birthday — the legendary captain, actor, musician, screenwriter and producer.

Just like every member of #ninjafam, we are still waiting for his return as Jack Sparrow in a new Pirates of the Caribbean film.

In the meantime, we invite you to check out our selection of the best films starring the actor. Follow the link to the website, choose something based on your preferences and order Ninja Sushi.

By the way, don’t forget to write in the comments which Johnny Depp films you remember the most.

Minamata

A drama film released in 2020. Johnny Depp plays American photographer Eugene Smith, who arrives in the Japanese city of Minamata on assignment for Life magazine.

An environmental disaster took place in this city, causing local residents to suffer severe mercury poisoning. Now, together with them, Eugene tries to draw the attention of the global community to the problem and bring those responsible to justice.

Alice in Wonderland

Tim Burton’s fantasy film, in which Johnny Depp played the Mad Hatter — one of the most memorable characters in the movie, at least thanks to his bright and eccentric appearance.

The plot follows a grown-up Alice, who accidentally returns to Wonderland after 13 years. Now she faces a long and mystical adventure full of danger and unexpected encounters.

Edward Scissorhands

Another cult film directed by Tim Burton, combining elements of drama, romance and fantasy. And perhaps one of Johnny Depp’s most striking transformations.

The story follows an unfinished mechanical man with scissors instead of hands. He is found in a castle and taken in by a family from a small suburb.

Despite his unusual appearance, Edward manages to win the hearts of some local residents and discover the feeling of love. However, he also comes face to face with a world full of prejudice and misunderstanding.

Sleepy Hollow

Once again, the creative partnership of Tim Burton and Johnny Depp resulted in a film that has not lost its charm even after 25 years.

The main character of the story is a young constable from New York. He is sent to a remote town called Sleepy Hollow, where a series of mysterious murders has recently taken place.

Johnny Depp’s character is calm, rational and used to scientific methods of investigation, but the locals believe the crimes are being committed by a mystical headless horseman.

A film with beautiful music that combines elements of mystery, horror and detective fiction. Its dark atmosphere and unexpected plot twists keep viewers in suspense from the very beginning until the final credits.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

We think you already know perfectly well the name of the director behind this film, based on the Broadway musical by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler.

Here, Johnny Depp plays the vengeful barber Sweeney Todd, who was unjustly convicted and sent away to serve his sentence. Returning to his native London several years later, he learns that his wife was driven to madness and his daughter was placed under the guardianship of a corrupt judge.

Todd decides to restore justice: he reopens his barbershop and begins his brutal revenge. The film won a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture, while Johnny Depp received the same award in the Best Actor category.

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

A film that needs no introduction. The image of charismatic captain and, at the same time, scourge of the seas Jack Sparrow is still most closely associated with Johnny Depp.

Interestingly, this character was originally intended to be secondary and much more ordinary, but became so recognizable after Johnny Depp started working on the role. We think every member of #ninjafam knows the plot of the first Pirates of the Caribbean film by heart.

So we’ll simply remind you that the film is still wonderful and can be watched in one breath. Why not revisit it on the actor’s birthday and in the pleasant company of Ninja Sushi?
