Ninja Recommends. Dune: Prophecy

On November 17, the first episode of Dune: Prophecy was released on Max streaming service. 

The story centers on the formation of the mysterious The Bene Gesserit Order, meaning the events take place about ten thousand years before the beginning of Paul Atreides' story. Despite the fact that the series is a prequel to the films of Denis Villeneuve, the director did not participate in its creation.

Critics' opinion:

However, the new story was greeted warmly by critics (71% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes), with some even calling it Game of Thrones in space. This is largely due to the fact that a lot of screen time is devoted to the political intrigues of the Dune universe, with all its consequences: episodes with plenty of violence and bed scenes.

The visuals of Dune: Prophecy also deserve special praise: even though they don't reach the level of Denis Villeneuve's films, they are among the top of the most atmospheric modern series.

The cast:

Despite not the most well-known names to the general public, the cast succeeded to the best of their ability. The main roles are played by Emily Watson (Stephen Hawking's Universe, Chernobyl) and Olivia Williams (Doppelganger, Alcyon), and among other actors you can notice the star of the movie Warcraft Travis Fimmel and Mark Strong, who recently flashed on the screens during the TV series Penguin. When will the series be released?

There are six episodes in the first (and hopefully not the last) season. The first one is already available and is over an hour long. One more will be released each week, and the series will conclude on December 22.
