What to Watch: The Best Movies and TV Series of 2025

ninjafam, last year brought us a huge number of truly great movies and TV series. Keeping up with every release was almost impossible.
That’s why we decided to put together our personal top picks — so you know exactly what to put on while the courier is delivering your favorite Ninja Sushi.
Of course, we had to leave some titles out, but we’re sure you’ll remind us about them in the comments.
Battle After Battle
A film by Paul Thomas Anderson starring Leonardo DiCaprio. The story revolves around an eternal conflict — between those who fight for something and those who are trying to protect it.
The setting is a fictional America of the future that has turned into a police state taken to the extreme, with themes that already sound disturbingly relevant today.
The main character is searching for his biological daughter, but the journey leads him into an endless chain of dangerous events.
This is a light action film packed with dark humor, a simple yet effective plot twist, and memorable, colorful characters. Highly recommended.

F1
In 2019, the hit movie Ford v Ferrari was released, based on a true story of rivalry between two racing teams. F1 is another attempt to bring the world of motorsport to the big screen — this time in a more stylized, cinematic form.
The script intentionally follows a classic Hollywood formula: former champion Sonny Hayes leaves motorsport after a serious crash. Years later, he returns at the request of the APXGP team owner to help young driver Joshua Pearce fight for the title.
The film can easily be praised for its visuals, cinematography, Hans Zimmer’s music, and Brad Pitt’s performance.

Frankenstein
Guillermo del Toro had been planning to make this film since 2008, but the project remained stuck in development hell for years. Only thanks to Netflix did it finally receive the green light in 2022.
The result is a beautiful adaptation of the classic story — made with heart and enhanced by modern filmmaking technology. Strong performances and a simple yet touching musical score complete the experience.

Superman
This is less a reboot and more a reinterpretation of the iconic hero. James Gunn moves away from excessive pathos and presents a Superman with inner conflicts — more human and vulnerable.
The result is a strong superhero film that successfully launches a new chapter for DC, adds fresh details to a familiar story, and treats the source material with care.
Easily one of the best superhero movies of recent years.

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery
The third entry in the popular franchise once again proves that Benoit Blanc, played by Daniel Craig, fully deserves his status as one of the most charismatic detectives in modern cinema.
After a somewhat weaker second film, the new story takes on a noticeably darker tone. Director Rian Johnson masterfully plays with audience expectations, plants false clues, and makes you question almost every detail.
The signature humor is still there, the plot unfolds carefully, and the finale makes you mentally replay the entire film from the beginning.

K-Pop Demon Hunters
A light animated movie that’s perfect for watching with kids: a bit of fantasy, plenty of humor, and all of it set to energetic K-Pop tracks.
Rumi, Mira, and Zoey are K-Pop stars on stage — and secret defenders of the world behind the scenes. Between stadium concerts, they battle supernatural threats no one else even knows about, using their mysterious abilities.

The Studio
A satirical series by Seth Rogen about the film industry that won 13 awards and became a record holder for the number of trophies at the Emmy Awards.
The Studio brings together everything wild about Hollywood life: sharp topical jokes, perfectly cast actors, and countless celebrity cameos.
If this project somehow slipped past you, now is the perfect time to catch up.

Adolescence
Adolescence is one of the most striking series of the year, focusing on the incel subculture. The main character, 13-year-old British teenager Jamie, is arrested on suspicion of murdering a classmate.
However, the story is far more complex than it seems at first glance. The plot centers on a police investigation, and the unconventional storytelling makes the series stand out among other releases.

Daredevil: Born Again
The long-awaited continuation of the story of a blind lawyer who fights crime at night in a red suit.
His main opponent is Wilson Fisk, who decides to become mayor legally and declares all vigilantes outside the law. This forces Matt Murdock to act and ignites a new chapter in their confrontation.
What we get is not just a superhero series, but a gritty crime drama with a dense atmosphere, brutal scenes, and a tone that occasionally feels reminiscent of The Sopranos.
